Japanese commercial fishermen regularly practise a style of fishing known as Kabura Jigging - a proven technique used to bring fish on to the bite in slow conditions.
This method of jigging is said to be excellent in cold water when jigs are worked extremely slowly for bottom fish such as snapper and kingfish. Simply jig very slowly with a consistent "hop and flutter" method. Vertically drop the jig to the bottom, wind up slowly then allow the jig to flutter down again creating maximum action with minimal outlay.
